** UPDATED SLC COMPETITION TIME SCHEDULE (S)
As announced during the fall leadership conference, a correction was needed on the state leadership conference schedule for Payroll Accounting. The schedule has been corrected. Please remember that PC Servicing & Troubleshooting, Payroll Accounting, and SQL Database Fundamentals will have new times for the 2019 SLC. The new schedule is available for download on the documents page of our website or a direct link to the document is https://www.michiganbpa.org/s/docs-2019-SLC-Competition-Time-Schedule-2018-10-08.pdf

** PRESUBMITTED EVENT MATERIALS FOR REGIONAL COMPETITION (S)
Yesterday, regional advisors received an updated version of the instructions for uploading presubmitted events for the regional competition. That information will be distributed directly from you regional advisors. It will not be posted on our website in order to avoid confusion with state conference requirements.

** MEMBERSHIP RECRUITMENT WEEK IS NEXT WEEK
Membership Recruitment Week is October 15-19, 2018. Please reach out to the students throughout your school to recruit new members. Ask your current members to help with recruitment; they can easily ask their friends to join. Be proud of your chapter and spread the word about your business education classes. Active members in BPA bring a great deal of recognition to the business education curriculum. Take action and have your students engage in some membership recruitment activities!

** STUDENT COMMUNICATION WITH STATE OFFICERS
From 2018-2019 Michigan BPA State Executive Council

The state officers have set a goal to increase communication between the state executive council and chapter members. Effective communication is an invaluable characteristic in any business, and this holds true for BPA. As part of this goal, we will expand the scope of state officer communication by contacting every Michigan secondary chapter directly. Additionally, we will foster open conversation between state and local officers. However, we need your help.

Please ask your student members to take your time to fill out the Google Form that is provided below. This will allow the state officers to better communicate and coordinate activities such as chapter visits. We are also reviving the newsletters and increasing our social media presence. We know that you, the membership, will find both to be informative and beneficial resources. This is going to be a great year and we are excited to be the most connected MI BPA yet!

STATE THEME & NLC TRADING PIN CONTESTS (S)
The state theme graphic and NLC trading pin contest deadlines will be here before you know it. If you have a student who is interested in showing off his/her graphic design talent, these contests are for them. The deadline for contest entries is October 31, 2018. Guidelines and details are posted online at www.michiganbpa.org/documents.

BPA PISTONS EVENT
The BPA Pistons Event will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018. Registration information and participation list forms are available on our website at www.michiganbpa.org/documents. The deadline to sign up is Friday, November 23, 2018.

As mentioned during the fall leadership conference, it is the Michigan BPA State Office’s preference that you attend this event, instead of arranging any sort of separate tour event. Proceeds from the ticket sales from this event are used to provide a scholarship that will be awarded at our annual state conference.
