** NLC OVERVIEW
For those chapter advisors who attended the 2019 National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California, congratulations on representing Michigan quite well. We applaud the Michigan Association on relying on your rarity as you demonstrated professionalism and achieved great success in your events.
The conference was exciting because Michigan kept its record of winning the most awards. Here are some exciting highlights:
** Number of Secondary Division winners: 90 in the Top 10; 36 in the top 3
** Number of Postsecondary Division winners: 127 in the top 10; 51 in the top 3
These numbers do not include virtual events. Once the full results for virtual events are provided to state advisors, I will update this information.
A full summary of the conference along with some photo highlights of the conference will posted online at www.michiganbpa.org/nlc tomorrow.
** MIDDLE LEVEL SUCCESS
Michigan BPA is extremely proud of its Middle Level Division, under the leadership of Ludington High School BPA advisor Melanie Tomaski. Our Middle Level Division was received numerous NLC awards. Many students were called onto stage as competitive event winners, which included several students in the Top 3. We are so proud of their participation and dedication.
Our Middle Level Division has grown tremendously this year. We encourage Secondary chapter advisors to either start a chapter at their local middle school or work with a teacher in this district to assist them in starting a chapter at their school.
** NLC RECAP NEWSLETTER
Our success at the 2109 BPA National Leadership Conference was so spectacular that it will be highlighted in our NLC recap newsletter. The newsletter, which includes some fantastic pictures, will be available for download at www.michiganbpa.org/nlc tomorrow.
** PRESS RELEASES
Please contact your local newspapers and/or TV stations in order to get some publicity for your BPA chapter regarding your participation in the conference. With newspapers being published online, newspapers are more apt to publish our success stories. Therefore, don’t rest on your laurels. Let the world know how good our Business Professionals of America students are.
If you do obtain publicity via the newspaper or TV, please send us the link and we will Tweet about it and we’ll post it on our website.
** 2019-2020 CHAPTER OFFICER ELECTIONS
This is the best time of year to conduct chapter officer elections. It will help you get a head start on the next school year. At the end of August, we announce the date for our fall leadership conference. If your officers are already elected, that will help you register for the conference in a timely manner.
NOTE: The date for the fall leadership conference is TENTATIVELY set for Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
SHARE AWARDS, INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS, AND PHOTOS
In many instances, Michigan BPA is unaware of BPA Cares Awards chapters receive. In addition, National BPA is unable to provide us with student success stories regarding the MOS and MTA certifications, Precision Exam certifications, NLC interns, NLC leadership academy participants, etc.
In addition, we want to have photos for our Michigan BPA website and conference-in-review newsletter.
Please share all of this information with us throughout the conference online www.michiganbpa.org/nlc-awards-and-photos.
