** Secondary and Postsecondary SLC Score Reports
** NLC Qualifier Cancellations
** IMPORTANT: REVIEW AMBASSADOR TORCH AWARDS SUBMISSIONS
If you have students who submitted their Ambassador Torch Resumes, please log in to the Torch Awards system to review the status of their submissions. Many students’ resumes have been rejected because the descriptions are not stated in full sentences. Unbeknown to our Michigan BPA staff, this requirement has been in the Torch Awards Handbook for the past two years. Activity descriptions must be in complete sentences. Descriptions that are provided that are not in complete sentences will be rejected. Remember, April 1 is the deadline for submission. No revisions can be made after April 1.
** NLC REGISTRATION DEADLINE ON (EASTER) SUNDAY
National Leadership Conference registration is on Sunday, April 1, 2018. All registrations submitted on or before 11:59 PM on Sunday will be guaranteed the early/regular conference registration rates.
Remember, all contestants who are submitting materials for the presubmitted events must be registered for the NLC prior to submitting their contestant materials.

Please download and read the entire NLC Preview Guide, which is available for download at www.bpa.org/nlc/preconferencepublication. You should read the booklet using a highlighter in order to highlight important pieces of information.

IMPORTANT: Students are allowed to make changes to their materials, websites, designs, etc. prior to submitting the materials for national competition. You do NOT have to submit the exact same materials you submitted for state competition. Students may make changes to improve their work as they desire.
NLC ROOMMATE SHARING
Visit www.michiganbpa.org/nlc-roommate-matching for roommate matching options and to announce that you have roommate possibilities.
Any student can attend the national leadership conference. Attendance is not limited to eligible competitive event award winners. Anyone may attend.
NLC ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT
Students are not required to attend the NLC for the entire time. They may attend only for their day of competition if they chose to do so.
NLC ADVISOR VS. PARENT ATTENDANCE
A frequently asked question is does an advisor need to attend the NLC. Advisors are not officially required to attend the conference. The student may attend with a parent or another chapter. However, keep in mind that the student’s advisor is still 100% responsible for handling conference registration and making hotel reservations. The chapter advisor must forward all communication to the designated adult attending on behalf of the chapter advisor. Although it’s not required, it would be helpful if you sign up such an adult chaperone to a conference assignment of some kind, even if it’s not a competition assignment.
NLC TRADING PINS
This year’s NLC trading pin with a moving compass part. We are confident that our pin will be a hot item this year. Make sure you order your pins by April 6, 2018 online at www.michiganbpa.org/nlc-trading-pins.
NLC LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
Remember, the NLC Leadership Academy is open to postsecondary students as well. In addition, postsecondary students may sign up to be a conference intern. Information is available online at www.bpa.org/nlc/leadershipacademy.
