** ATTIRE FOR BPA PISTONS EVENT
The BPA Pistons Event at Little Caesars Arena is tomorrow. Make sure you post pictures on social media using the #MIBPA hashtag and tag us using @MichiganBPA on Twitter and Instagram. Due to the nature of this event, casual attire is allowed. However, please advise students to avoid any inappropriate fashion trends. BPA t-shirts, sweatshirts, polos, etc. are always a plus.
** MEMBERSHIP DUES PAYMENT DEADLINE (S)
All payment for state and national dues must be RECEIVED on or before December 8, 2017. Please make sure payment for your dues have been received by this date. Plan accordingly!
RLC PRE-SUBMITTED EVENTS DEADLINE (S)
Friday, December 1, 2017 is the deadline date for all pre-submitted event materials for the regional competitions. Please make sure you have submitted your contestants’ materials on or before this deadline. Materials will NOT be accepted after this date (11:59 p.m. on December 1). The pre-submitted events are as follows: Administrative Support Research Project, Advanced Interview Skills, Broadcast News Production Team, Computer Animation Team, Digital Media Production, Economic Research Individual, Economic Research Team, Entrepreneurship, Fundamental Desktop Publishing, Global Marketing Team, Graphic Design Promotion, Interview Skills, Video Production Team, and Website Design Team.
Follow the supplemental mailing instructions provided by your regional advisor as well.
UPLOADING FILES VIA BPA SCHEDULER (S)
Please use the following naming conventions for your files that will be uploaded: the initials of the contest name followed by the 10-digit contestant number, with the underscore as the separator. An example of an Economic Research Individual paper submitted like this would be ERI_04_0024_1234. For team events, list the six-digit chapter number after the event name abbreviation. An example for Global Marketing Team would be GMT_04_0024. Only one file per contestant or team, per event should be submitted.
Files must be in PDF format and must be 5 MB or less in size.
Remember, to upload files on the BPA Scheduler, just go to www.bpascheduler.com and log in as you did to register your students for competition. For complete instructions, visit www.michiganbpa.org/documents and download the document entitled “File Uploading Instructions for Pre-submitted Events.”
REMEMBER, ALL FILES MUST BE CONVERTED TO PDF BEFORE BEING UPLOADED!
STUDENTS DELETED FROM BPA SCHEDULER (S)
Students who were not registered for any competition OR had “Not Attending” selected as their event were removed from the BPA Scheduler website yesterday. I encourage you to login to BPA Scheduler to see if any students were removed who should not have been. All individuals in the BPA Scheduler website must have an event selected in order to indicate they are planning to attend the conference. Remember, students who are not competing in any main competitions should have been identified as an “Open Events Only” contestant.
If you have any corrections that need to be made, please notify your regional advisors and me.
POSTSECONDARY COMPETITION REGISTRATION (PS)
Postsecondary chapters will be able to start registering their students for competition in January. However, chapters may want to start having students identify the events in which they plan to compete. When the registration for Postsecondary opens, chapters will be able to enter quickly their information.
STATE SERVICE PROJECT INFORMATION IS NOW AVAILABLE

We are excited to be working with Reach Out and Read this year as our state service project. Reach Out and Read is a nonprofit organization that gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together.
We know reading literacy is important for all individuals. It is never too early to start developing reading skills in young children. Therefore, Michigan BPA is encouraging local chapters to conduct virtual book drives for Reach Out and Read or create/rebuild a Little Free Library in your community.
Your chapter can participate in this year’s service project by way of making monetary donations, donating books, or creating a Little Free Library.
