SLC Staff/Alumni/Volunteer Agreement

Business Professionals of America (BPA) appreciates the service that you are providing by volunteering your time and resources to benefit our student members throughout the State of Michigan. Participation as a volunteer requires individuals who are dedicated to the mission and vision of providing a quality leadership experience for the delegates at the conference. To participate in this annual conference, all volunteers must review and support this agreement and indicate such by signing this form.
As a volunteer for the Business Professionals of America–Michigan Association, you must review the volunteer requirements below. By completing the SLC Volunteer Registration Form, you acknowledge that you understand the following and agree to:
Be prompt at all meetings and assignments.
Maintain proper dress and good grooming on all occasions.
Demonstrate high standards of moral character and conduct.
Avoid participation in and actively discourage any conversations that belittle or downgrade fellow members, volunteers, officers, and/or adults.
Speak to all advisors, students, and registered delegates with respect, professionalism, and in a positive manner with wholesome language.
Understand that specific people are in charge of various areas and that they may have the autonomy to make decisions and give directions and I will not undermine or surpass their authority (including, but not limited to the State Director, CEAC Representative, Conference Operations Manager, SLC Security Liaison, Alumni Coordinator, contest administrators, etc.).
Be willing to take and follow instructions and complete all tasks as directed by those responsible for them (including, but not limited to the State Director, CEAC Representative, Conference Operations Manager, SLC Security Liaison, Alumni Coordinator, contest administrators, etc.).
Understand that all BPA staff and volunteers are present to serve the entire BPA membership (students and advisors) and registered conference delegates and guests.
Serve by always maintaining a cooperative attitude and working together with others.
Treat all members and fellow volunteers equally and behave in a manner that conveys and commands respect without any air of superiority and conceit.
Prevent and not participate in any discriminatory practices involving race, religion, gender, gender identity, etc., and report such discrimination to the State Director or Conference Operations Manager immediately.
Support Michigan’s BPA policy of inclusiveness, diversity, and non-discrimination and engage in diffusing situations that relate to these matters.
Refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages on the conference hotel premises including consumption of any excessive alcoholic beverages outside of conference hotel properties.
Refrain from the use of any illegal drugs.
Refrain from smoking, including e-cigarettes and vaping, in public places as an example to our student members as indicated in our member delegate code of conduct (NOTE: All conference facilities are smoke-free environments).
Understand that I am subject to and must pass a background check that must be completed before the conference.
Refrain from using mobile telecommunications devices or eating during any competitive event that I am involved with.
Report to ALL large event set-up times as follows, if I do not have any other assigned duties or I am excused by the Conference Operations Manager or State Director:
Annual Business Meeting and Opening Session: Friday, 5:00 pm, Convention Center;
Campaign Rally: Saturday, 2:30 pm, Amway;
Dinner Session: Saturday, 5:00 pm, Convention Center; and
Awards Session: Sunday, 7:00 am, Convention Center
By completing the volunteer sign-up form via the link provided below, I understand the requirements of this volunteer agreement and agree to support and abide by the qualifications stated here. I agree to be a valued asset to the Business Professionals of America-Michigan Association. Furthermore, I understand that these are general expectations and this agreement is not limited to additional responsibilities as a volunteer that may arise.
