  • It's SLC Time!

    The state executive council has started planning an exciting state leadership conference. Everything you need to know about the conference will be available online.

    The 39th Annual State Leadership Conference will be held on March 24-27, 2011, at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This event provides a wonderful opportunity for students from various parts of Michigan to demonstrate their skills in assessment events, leadership seminars, campaigns and elections, and much. more.

  • Mobile SLC Site

    This year, we have a new way for you to stay up-to-date while attending the State Leadership Conference. Our new mobile site will give you instant access to the SLC schedule, session evaluations, award winners, maps, and more, all at the tips of your fingers. 

    Optimized for all mobile browsers - both smartphones and general mobile devices - this site will be a handy resource as you experience the conference. Forget your program booklet? Not to worry - everything you need is already on your mobile phone!

  • Legacy Launcher Workshop Descriptions

    The Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference is more than about competition. It's about leadership development as well.

    The workshop descriptions for the 2011 State Leadership Conference are now available online. Students that attend four or more seminars and at least three colleges at the college fair will receive a special certificate of achievement after the conference.   • Are Your Voting Delegates Prepared?

    The voting delegates have the big responsibility of electing the next leaders of our association. During the conference, the voting delegates will be engaged in the election process for the 2011-2012 State Executive Council. All voting delegates must attend the annual business meeting, which will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 6:30 PM.   • SLC Advisor Assignments Available Online

    All advisors have been issued an assignment to work a competition at the upcoming state leadership conference. In order for our conference to be a success, we need everyone's assistance and participation. You may view your assignment by downloading the "Advisor Assignment (sorted by advisor name)" or "Advisor Assignment (sorted by school name)" document by clicking here. More specific details about these assignments will be sent to each advisor via U.S. mail.

  • Updated SLC Event Schedule Posted

    Updated versions of our SLC Schedule of Events are posted online and are available for download by clicking here.

  • Davenport University Contestant Information

    Students competing in events at Davenport University during the upcoming state conference should print and bring the Davenport University Computer Instructions and Davenport University Contestant # Tent Card, which are available for download on our SLC documents page by clicking here. Before printing the tent card, replace the text "04-XXXX-XXXX" with your 10-digit contestant ID number.

  • BPA Family Feud

    The State Executive Council is really excited for the state conference this year. The Thursday night activity is "BPA Family Feud" modeled after the popular game show "Family Feud." Chapters will be able to compete against each other on their knowledge of various general topics. The winning teams will receive prizes.

    If members are interested in participating, they need to make teams consisting of five people. Members cannot be on more than one team. In addition, there will be a maximum of one team per chapter. When chapters arrive, the teams should come to the Ambassador East Ballroom around 7:30 PM to sign up.

    We encourage members to participate in this fun activity. If members from your chapter are not on team, feel free to come and watch your fellow BPA members. It will be a fun night and we hope every one enjoys BPA Family Feud!

    Congratulations to the 2010-2011 Statesman Torch Awards recipients. The award recipients will be recognized during the Opening Session at the State Leadership Conference for the Secondary Division. Click here to view a list of the recipients.

    New and reaffiliated postsecondary chapters will be recognized at the Awards Session during the Postsecondary State Leadership Conference on Saturday, February 12, 2011.

  • Advisor Years of Service Awards

    A list of recipients of the Advisor Years of Service Awards for 2010-2011 is available on the SLC documents page. Advisors who have been a BPA chapter advisor for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years will be recognized at the Advisor's Breakfast during the state conference.

  • Davenport Shuttle Bus Schedule

    The shuttle bus schedule for transportation to our off-site computer events at the Davenport University-Lettinga Campus is now available online on our SLC documents page. Use this schedule to help determine what time you should depart the hotel. In addition, you can determine if you have a schedule conflict with events at both Davenport and the Amway on Friday.

  • SLC News

    More than 2,000 members, advisors, and guests will meet in Grand Rapids to engaged in leadership development sessions, compete in state-level Workplace Skills Assessment Program competitions, and network with other students and professionals from across Michigan.

    Over the coming weeks, you can use this site as your one-stop source for all SLC information, documents, and downloads. And during the conference, we will be broadcasting all three general sessions live on this site and posting photos every day. This way, parents and friends back home can enjoy the SLC along with you.

  • National Anthem Singer at SLC

    The Michigan Association is continuing its tradition of having a contest for students who are interested in singing the National Anthem at the opening session of the state leadership conference. Any student who qualifies to attend the SLC as a regional event winner or statesman award recipient is eligible to submit an entry for this contest. Students must submit their performance singing the national anthem on audiocassette or CD, a current photograph, and short bio to the state office. Please note that these items will not be returned. The performance at the SLC will be a cappella; therefore, it´s best that the audition performance be submitted in that manner. All entries must be RECEIVED by January 20, 2011.
