What do you do with your free time at the RLC? Get some food? Take a nap? Practice for your event? The time between your events is the perfect time to take an open test. It is a great opportunity to test your knowledge and participate in more competitive events.
Open tests are scantron tests that contain a variety of questions related to its topic. These tests have multiple-choice and true-false objective questions. Members can take as much time as needed to complete them, however the amount of time taken will be recorded on the scantron and will act as a tiebreaker if needed. There are a variety of different test topics, which include: Management/Marketing/Human Resources Concepts, Parliamentary Procedure Concepts, Information Technology Concepts, Administrative Support Concepts, Financial Math & Analysis, Insurance Concepts and Business Spelling (Secondary Only).
All open tests can be taken during the entire regional, state and national leadership conferences. The only open event that allows calculators is the Financial Math & Analysis event. Students are advised to bring their own pencils, erasers, and calculators. All members are strongly encouraged to participate in open test taking because it will increase their chances of moving on to the next conference, improve test-taking skills, and increase knowledge of the chosen subject. Open events are a great way to get more involved with BPA!
