Students throughout Michigan surpassed the competition by exponential margins as we kept our reign as the state that wins the most awards at the BPA National Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 30-May 4, 2014. Michigan's Secondary Division earned 114 in the top 10; 34 of which were in the top 3. Our Postsecondary Division earned 134 in the top 10; 50 of which were in the top 3. Michigan swept six competitions by winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in those events. Two conference participants earned the Merit Scholar Award. Sixty-one (61) students earned the highest award in the Torch Awards Program--the Ambassador Award.
Approximately 5,500 students attended the conference representing 28 different states. Michigan was represented by 532 participants (433 for Secondary division; 89 for Postsecondary Division).
